There is no French meal without the iconic “baguette” 🥖, the essential bread in France which comes along almost every dish.
You only need 4 simple ingredients to make a crusty baguette and it is quite easy if you follow carefully every step.

Ingredients for 1 baguette:
• 500 grams of flour Type 55
• 300 grams of water
• 2 teaspoons of salt
• 1 teaspoon of sugar
• 2,5 teaspoons of baker's yeast

Preparation: 25 minutes
Cooking : 20 minutes
Rest: 4 hours
Directions :
Put the baker’s yeast and the water in a bowl.

Mix and let the yeast soak for 10 minutes. I
n another bowl, combine the flour and salt, add the diluted yeast with water and mix well to amalgamate the mixture.
The mixture becomes quite sticky.
Cover with damp cloths and let rise for 1 hour 20 folding each 20 minutes (Using your hand, stir gently and draw flour from bottom of bowl)
Cover and let the dough rise for about 1 hour/1 hour 30.
Transfer mixture to a flat floured surface.
Lightly dust the top of the dough with flour and give it a turn (Stretch dough from left to right and fold in half.
Cover with a towel and let rest for 20 minutes then repeat all this twice with a quarter turn each time.
Divide in 3 pieces, slightly round it and let it relax 20 minutes covered with a towel.
Shape each into a baguette shape 🥖with pointed ends.
Cover and let it rest for 20 minutes while preheating the oven to 230°c and place a pan of water on the bottom rack.
Uncover the baguettes and transfer to lightly greased baking sheets.
Sprinkle with flour, and make 4 elongated slashes down each one with a lame or sharp knife.
Bake the breads at 220°c for 15-20 minutes until it is crusty and brown.
Cool on a rack and voilà...!!! 😋
